Launius Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at All Ag Banquet

Dr. Steve W. Launius was awarded the Lifetime Achivement award on Friday, February 22, during the 67th annual All Ag Banquet held at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Launius received three degrees from SIUC, two in the College of Agricultural Sciences. He received his bachelor of science degree in agricultural education; his master of science degree in agricbusiness economics and his phD in educational administration. He served as an agriculture teacher in Breese for eight years and has judged many FFA and agricultural activities over the past 27 years. He also served as superintendent of several school districts, including Beecher City, Logan District 110, Steward District 220 and Marissa District 40.

In his retirement, Launius is an active member and current secretary of the Washington County Farm Bureau. He serves on numerous committees as well as advisory roles. He is also involved in the St. Louis Agribusiness Club and the Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers. He holds the Illinois Honoray State FFA degree. He resides on a grain farm in rural Nashville.

“It is a real honor,” Launius said of the award.
