It took a shoot-off, but NCHS senior Jacob Maschhoff advanced to Sectionals in the IHSA Three-Point Showdown. Maschhoff was one of four shooters to shoot for Nashville before the Regional Championship game against Wesclin in Carlyle. Joe Morris, Buzz Ritzel, and Bryce Donato shot for Nashville as well.
Seven was a lucky number as six different players made 7/15 in the three point shootout. Dillon Smail from Hillsboro and Josh Serrano from Wesclin each made nine, while Luke Serrano from Wesclin made eight. That left one spot open for the six players to compete against in the shootoff.
In the shoot-off each player got to shoot five three pointers from each of the corners. From Nashville, both Morris and Maschhoff shot in the shoot-off. Morris made just four in the shoot-off. Maschhoff got off to a rough start in the shoot-off as his first shot hit the side of the backboard. Maschhoff would not miss again as he knocked down the final nine shots to win the shoot-off and advance to Sectionals.
