Hornettes Hold End Of Season Banquet
The Nashville Hornettes girls basketball team closed the book on their 2018-19 season this past weekend with their awards banquet. The Hornettes enjoyed a successful season in which they won more than 20 games, won the Nashville Invitational Tournament, won a Regional Championship, and a Sectional Championship. The Hornettes were one of the final eight teams in IHSA Class 2A.
Six players received individual awards. Libby Ahlers, Emily Stern, Kylie Kozuszek, Sabrina Kollbaum, Rylee Luechtefeld, and Alyssa Cole all received awards.
Ahlers was named the team MVP, won the Free Throw Award, and was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Stern won the Field Goal Percentage Award.
Kozuszek was named Most-Improved.
Luechtefeld was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Year, received the Rebounding Award, and also was recognized for breaking the single-season record for blocks at Nashville Community High School.
Cole won the Assist Award.
Ahlers started all 33 games for the Hornettes. Ahlers led the team with 10.9 points per game. Ahlers was second on the team in assists as well. Ahlers led the team with 39 made three point field goals. Ahlers shot a team-high 73.6 percent from the charity stripe this season.
Stern appeared in 32 games this season for the Hornettes. Stern shot a team-high 44.6% from the field during the year. Stern was third on the team in rebounding, pulling down 131 rebounds for the Hornettes. Stern averaged 4.3 points per game.
