Hornets And Hornettes Host First Home Meet
The NCHS Boys and Girls track teams kicked off their season with a home meet on March 21. The teams competed against Mater Dei, Okawville, Christ Our Rock Lutheran, Murphysboro and Carlyle. No team scores were kept for the meet.
On the girls side, the Hornettes won eleven different events.
In field events, Carli Hoffman won the Shotput and Kayla Ivey won the pole vault.
Nashville won all four relays at the meet. Kiley Heidel, Brittnie Bartling, Hailey Baugh, and Kylie Kozuszek won the 4X800M Relay. Destyn Herrington, Karmen Reynolds, Talanie Kozuszek and Halle Rueter won the 4X100M Relay. Herrington, Jadah Heidel, Talanie Kozuszek, and Rueter teamed up to win the 4X200M Relay. Baugh, Delaney Varel, Kiley Heidel, and Jadah Heidel won the 4X400M Relay.
In the individual running events, the Hornettes grabbed five first place finish. Rueter won both the 100M Dash, and the 200M Dash. Jadah Heidel won the 100M Hurdles, and the 300M Hurdles. Baugh won the 800M Run.
