Three Hornets Named All-Conference
The Southern Illinois River to River Conference announced their 2018-19 Boys Basketball All-Conference teams this past week, with three Hornets being named All-Conference in the Mississippi Division. Seniors Bryce Bultman, and Kelton Harre were joined by junior Carson Parker in being named All-Conference this season.
The Hornets completed one of the best seasons in school history as they won 35 games and finished second in the IHSA Class 2A State Tournament, falling in the State Championship game. The Hornets won the SIRR Conference Mississippi Division with an 9-1 record in conference play.
Nashville led the Mississippi Division with three All-Conference selections. Pinckneyville, DuQuoin, Anna-Jonesboro, and Carterville each had two selections. Sparta had one selection.
Bultman, a McKendree University recruit, joined the 1000 point club this past season. Bultman finished the year with 551 points, which was second on the team. Bultman averaged 14.5 points per game this season. Bultman led the Hornets in assists, blocks, steals, and rebounds this season.
Parker finished his junior campaign just shy of 1000 career points. Parker was the Hornets leading scorers this season as he averaged 14.7 points per game. Parker narrowly beat out Bultman as the team’s leading scorer. Parker finished with seven more points than Bultman. Parker was second on the team in assists and rebounds this season.
Harre was a defensive stopper for the Hornets this season. Harre drew 31 charges this past season. Harre led the Hornets in two point field goal percentage. Harre shot 84.8% from two point range this season. Among the key contributors this season, Harre finished as the best free throw shooter. Harre converted on 85.7% of his free throws.
The rest of the All-Conference team were: Dawson Yates and Grant Tanner from Pinckneyville; Josh Heape and Braeden Purcell from DuQuoin; Blake Pena and Tyler Smith from Anna-Jonesboro; Eli Downen and Austin Garbe from Carterville; and Carlos Keen from Sparta.
