Shakespeare Stone Soup Performs ‘Twelfth Night’ In Nashville Memorial Park

The Shakespeare Stone Soup presented a lively and groovy rendition of the comedy “The Twelfth Night” at Nashville Memorial Park on Thursday, May 9.

The event was inspired by the late David Bowie, as it adds “as much bling as the tour van will carry” while the cast imagines twins Viola and Sebastian meeting their idols in Illyria in this rhythm fueled rendition of one of Shakespeare’s favorite comedies.

The production was put on by the Washington County Arts Council, which will also bring outdoor concerts to the courthouse lawns this summer. The concerts will be held on Thursday evenings starting at 6 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m.

The lineup for the upcoming events begin on May 30 with the Nashville Community High School Band.

Roaming Home follows on June 6. George Portz is the headliner on June 13.

New to the schedule this year, Repeat Offenders with Danny Kaufman takes the stage on June 20. Angela French is set for June 27.

One More Last Chance will perform at Memorial Park on the Fourth of July, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Beacoup Bottom Band plays on July 11 and Threshermen concludes the series on July 18.

There will be free popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, sweet tea and water available at the event. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy a fun-filled evening listening to music.
