Dorothy A. Torrens

Dorothy Ann, nee Mierek, Torrens, 82, of Sparta, IL; born on June 24, 1936 in Lively Grove, IL; passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Coulterville Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Torrens was a professional seamstress and she loved sewing and quilting. She volunteered at the food pantry in Harvard, Illinois while she was living there. She enjoyed doing puzzles and working in the garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Stanley and Ann, nee Wisneski, Mierek.  One daughter – Deborah Hunt and one sister – Geraldine Holloway.

She is survived by her loving husband – Earle Leon Torrens whom she married on December 29, 1956 in Mount Vernon, IL.  Her Daughter – Gail (Kevin) Bennett of Blanco, TX. Three Grandchildren – Kailin (Ben) Craft of Lake Jackson, TX; Kile Bennett of College Station, TX and Eva Hunt of Carol Stream, IL. Three Great Grandchildren. Two brothers – Stanley (Lani) Mierek of Forsythe, IL and Ronald (Betty) Mierek of St. Peters, MO. Many nieces and nephews. Other relatives and many friends.

A private burial will be held with a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Sparta Senior Center or American Diabetes Association.
