Letter To The Editor: CILA And The King Property

Dear Editor,
Could please include this survey in your next weekly newspaper? Yesterday there was a court hearing about how the new Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) owned by Community Link in Breese, IL was asking for tax exempt on the newly donated home, formerly owned by Jerry King.
I understand that the Nashville Community is concerned that such a large tax exemption for the home will impact them negatively in the years to come in their real estate taxes.
However, this report shows the economical output that CILA homes and workshop have on their local communities. This study evaluated the impact 30 human service organizations located in IL Senate Districts (SD) 58 and 59 of southern Illinois for the fiscal year of 2017.
I think most businesses and residents do not understand that human service agencies does not have the intention to take things away for other residents by to provide more income to the area. This study shows that from the 30 participating organization they employ 2, 417 people and generate $135, 714,632.00 in economic output.
This study was released in October 2018 and I feel it is vital to share with our local community.
Sincerely

I couldn’t help but wonder if there is more to this than taxes? Or am I reading the responses that were quoted in the news wrong.Seemed to be more responses about the persons served by this organization than tax money.
