Taylor L. Sharp

Mr. Taylor L. Sharp of Nashville, IL departed this life at his residence in Nashville on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 7:30 AM.  He had attained the age of 90 years, 9 months and 19 days.

Mr. Sharp was born on September 25, 1928 in Lawrence County, AR, the son of Edgar and Ellen (Riggs) Sharp.  He was united in marriage to Donna Alpaugh on June 9, 1952 in West Unity, OH, and she survives his passing.

Taylor was a member of the United States Army, where he served as a Chaplain.  He was a Pastor for churches in California and Indiana from 1952 until his retirement in 1989.   Taylor was a member of College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington, IN.  He enjoyed golfing, gardening, music, bee keeping and Taylor was an avid bird lover.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife Donna Sharp of Nashville, IL; a son, Scott Sharp and his wife Beth of Nashville; two daughters, Carol Ruppel and husband Mike of Simpsonville, SC and Sheri Recknagel and husband David of Oakland, MI; four grandchildren, Weston Sharp, Catherine (Arturo) Martinez, Bradley Arnold and Max Recknagel; two brothers, Vern (Darlene) Sharp of Boise, ID and Dr. Charles Sharp of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters, Sue Broaddus of Placentia, CA and Kathy (Stanley) Gray of Idaho;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Sharp officiating.  Per the wishes of Taylor and his family, cremation will be performed after the funeral service and burial of ashes will be held at a later date in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday from 10 AM until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Samaritan’s Purse, Love a Child or Paralyzed Veterans of America and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
