Florence Waier, 88, of McLeansboro died at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1931, in DuBois, a daughter to Anton and Mary (Lamczyk) Szramkowski. She married Albert Waier on May 5, 1951, in Radom, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Millenbine of McLeansboro and Karla Lee of Carmi; a son, Kenneth Waier and wife Darlene of McLeansboro; grandchildren, Monica Millenbine, Tiffany Hart (husband Tim), Bryan Waier (wife Chelsea), Kevin Waier, Jason Waier (wife Bethany), Amber Quinter (husband Kyle), Ariana Watts (husband Brian); great grandchildren, Addison Renshaw, Ayla Waier, Annistyn Waier, Atlas Waier, Emma Waier, Kevin Waier Jr., Braylee Waier, Reid Waier, Parker Watts; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leonard and Ed Szramkowski; three sisters, Caroline Novak, Lorraine Rozanski and Rose Marie in infancy; brothers-in-law, Ed, Raymond and Louis Waier; sisters-in-law, Marie Winka, Ann Dalman and Theresa Kellerman.
Mrs. Waier was a homemaker. She was also a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church in McLeansboro. She quilted with the ladies of the church and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Societ. She also loved gardening, growing flowers, and really enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to time of services on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at St Clement’s Catholic Church in McLeansboro.
Mass will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Slawonmir Ptak and Father George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clement’s Catholic Cemetery in McLeansboro.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made St. Clement’s Catholic Cemetery Fund or The Alzheimers Association and envelopes will be available at the Church.
