William “Bill” L. Smalley
Mr. William “Bill” L. Smalley of Ashley, IL departed this life at the Washington County Hospital Extended Care in Nashville, IL on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 8:41 AM. He had attained the age of 84 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Bill was born on April 7, 1935 in Ashley, IL the son of Anthony T. and Cecelia (Schindelar) Smalley. He was united in marriage to Frances Kula on August 10, 1960 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL and she survives his passing.
Bill was a member of the United States Army and worked as a forklift driver for Ligma in Nashville, IL, retiring after working there for 20 years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL. Bill loved farming, hunting, fishing, polka music and he enjoyed playing for the Polka Notes for many years.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Frances Smalley of Ashley, IL; two daughters, Mary Setzekorn and husband Kevin of Ashley, IL and Joyce York and husband Rusty of Hoyleton, IL; four grandchildren, Jessica (Garrett) Shewmake, Tyler Setzekorn, April York and Dillan (Lacy) York; three great grandchildren, Hayden and Easton Shewmake and Mason York; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10 AM with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the American Legion Post 110.
Friends may call at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Saturday from 8 AM until the service hour. The rosary will be recited on Saturday at 9:45 AM.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials may be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church or Cemetery and will be acceptd by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
