SIRR Preview Tournament Schedule Released
The Southern Illinois River to River Conference released the schedule for the 2019 SIRR Preview Tournament this past week. The tournament will be held at Carterville High School on August 31. Admission for the tournament is $5. Concessions will be available throughout the tournament. The start of the tournament is scheduled for 9 am. The Nashville Hornettes are the defending champions of the tournament.
The Hornettes were placed into Pool A, as Nashville won the Mississippi Division in 2018. Joining Nashville in Pool A will be Benton, Sparta, and West Frankfort. The Hornettes first game will be against West Frankfort. Nashville’s second contest will be against Sparta. The Hornettes will round out pool play against Benton. Pool A will play in the Auxiliary Gym on Court 1.
Pool B, which will play in the Auxiliary Gym on Court 2 will consist of Massac County, DuQuoin, Harrisburg, and Carterville.
Pool C, which will play in the Competition Gym, consists of Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Anna-Jonesboro, and Herrin.
Pool play is based on the 2018 standings. Pool play will be 3 games, rally scoring to 25 starting at four. Win by two, without a cap. Third game will be played to 15. Win by two, no cap.
First place winners in each pool, will play in the Gold Division. 2nd place pool play teams will play in the Silver Division. Third place pool teams will play in the Bronze Division. Gold Division will be in the Competition Gym. Silver Division in the Auxiliary Gym on Court 1, and the Bronze Division in the Auxiliary Gym on Court 2.
Division play contests will be three games, rally scoring to 25. Win by two no cap. Third game played to 15. Win by two no cap.
Awards will be given to the first place teams in the Gold Division, Silver Division, and Bronze Division. A second place award will be given in the Gold Division only. There will also be a ten member All-Tournament Team.
