Cross Country End Regular Season, Run in Regionals

On a cold, rainy day the Hornette’s Cross Country team came in fourth place to advance to Sectionals. They had a team score of 121. Sectionals will be held Saturday at Benton.
The Benton Community Park was the venue for the Benton Invitational on Monday. The boys finished 11th overall with an overall score of 298. Gavin Love led all Hornet runners, finishing 6th overall with a final time of 15:51.
Ray Habeck (16), Caleb Klein (74), Brody Meyer (88), and Michael Kirchner (116) were amongst the other top finishers for Nashville. The boys top teams were Benton (54), Marion (76), Christ Our Rock (102), Mater Dei (129), and DuQuoin (133). The girls team also ran on Monday and finished 6th overall with a score of (150).
The Hornettes were led by Destyn Herrington who finished 13th and crossed the line at 20:10. Other Hornette runners included Havalen Pierce (18), Sabrina Kollbaum (25), Hailey Baugh (40), and Lindsey Gossmn (54.) Benton (31), DuQuoin (59), Mater Dei (79), Carterville (144), and Hamilton County (145) rounded out the top teams for the girls.
On a gloomy, rainy day at Randolph County State Recreational Area, the cross-country team certainly had something to smile about. The Hornettes finished fourth overall and qualified for sectionals. Destyn Herrington was the first Nashville runner to cross the line, finishing 10th overall with a time of 22:36. Sabrina Kollbaum was right behind her, finishing 11th with a time of 22:39.
Havalen Pierce came in 16th, crossing the line at 22:48. Hailey Baugh finished 39th at 25:44. Lindsey Gossman came in at 26:13 which was good for 43rd. Caitlyn Pytlinski and Kali Heggemeier finished 48th and 50th, finishing with times of 27:07 and 27:17. Gavin Love and Ray Habeck advanced as individuals for the boy’s teams. Love finished 6th with a time of 18:09 and Habeck finished 15th at 18:40.
