Mrs. Marie H. Schafer of Nashville, IL departed this life at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 5:44 PM.  She had attained the age of 87 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Marie was born on October 25, 1932 in Ashley, IL the daughter of Valentine and Carrie (Piechota) Ruchaj.  She was united in marriage to Frank G. Schafer, Jr. on August 9, 1952 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1990.

Marie worked as a bookkeeper for Agripride FS in Nashville, IL for over 50 years.  She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL.  Marie enjoyed reading and loved listening to music.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Jeffrey Schafer of Nashville, IL; daughter, Cindy Sanders and husband Paul of Mt. Vernon, IL; two grandchildren, Jason and Zachary Sanders; three great grandchildren, Abigail, Abel and Crew Sanders; two sisters, Lillian Janssen and Rose Hunter both of Nashville, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Andy Knopik officiating.  Interment will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery in Nashville, IL.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Friday from 8 AM until 10 AM.

Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Ann Catholic School or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
