Mrs. Emma Lou Irwin of Nashville, IL, departed this life at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 5:29 PM.  She had attained the age of 77 years, 7 months 27 days.

Emma Lou was born on June 15, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Ernst and Emma (Kettler) Gummersheimer.  She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Irwin on February 4, 1961 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville, IL, and he survives her passing.

Emma Lou was a piano teacher for many years.  She was a lifelong member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville, IL., where she previously was the children’s choir director and played the piano for services for several years.   She was a founding member of the Nashville Ladies Golf Association.  Emma Lou was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed bowling and was a St. Louis Rams fan.  She loved reading, crocheting, knitting and playing cards with her friends.  But her biggest love was being with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 59 years, Bob Irwin of Nashville, IL; two sons, Rob Irwin and wife Monica and Rick Irwin all of Nashville; two grandsons, Adam Irwin and wife Brittany and Trevor Irwin; three great-grandchildren, Harper, Haelynn and Brayten Irwin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.

Per the wishes of Emma Lou and her family, cremation rites were performed and a memorial service will be held at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville, IL on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 7 PM with Rev. Beverly Kahle officiating.

Friends may call at the St. Paul United Church of Christ on Tuesday from 4 PM until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
