Mr. Gregory “Tank” DeFend of Nashville, IL departed this life at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. He had attained the age of 57 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Greg was born on June 6, 1962, the son of Charles and JoAnn (Hermeling) DeFend.
Greg took over for his father and operated DeFend’s Garage in Nashville, IL for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville and was a past member of the Nashville Jaycee’s. Greg enjoyed hunting, cooking for other people and going to sporting events.
Left to mourn his passing is his daughter Crystal Kellerman and husband Neil of Pinckneyville, IL; brother, Rick DeFend and wife Ann of Dayton, OH; two nieces, Addison and Mallory DeFend; significant other, Selene Sanders of St. Louis, MO; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, C.J. DeFend and brother, Mark DeFend.
Funeral services were held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11 AM with Rev. Aaron Kotila officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends called at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Sunday from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the NCHS Sports Boosters and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
