Barbara Lynn, nee Kasten, Lake, 66, of Biddleborn, IL; born on December 26, 1953 in Centralia, IL; passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous two year battle with clear cell ovarian cancer.
Barb was the owner and operator of Bernina at Fancyworks in Marissa. Her love of knitting and sewing was reflected throughout her life, from sewing at home, becoming a 4-H leader, and for the last 25 years operating her business, where she made brides look beautiful in their gowns and helping her sewing customers fall in love with sewing. She was a past member of Professional Association of Custom Clothiers and Professional Dressmakers Association. She was a very dedicated member of the Marissa Chamber of Commerce and held several officer positions. Most of all Barb loved spending time with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law – Dorothy Lake-Juenger. Her fathers-in-law – Alphonse Lake and Allen Juenger. Also preceded in death by brothers-in-law and other relatives.
She is survived by her husband – Terry “Otto” Lake. Her children – Daniel (Joanna) Lake of Ridgeland, SC and DeAnne (Ryan) Renken of Mascoutah, IL. Her grandchildren – Garrett and Ruth Renken. Her parents – Wilfred and Ferris, nee Creed, Kasten of Hoyleton, IL. One brother – Steve (Marge) Kasten of Hoyleton, IL. One sister – Janice (Dennis) Boldt of Valley Park, MO. Her aunt – Laura Haake of Hoyleton, IL. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many beloved cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law and her good friend and employee – Marilyn Lewis of Marissa, IL.
Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois Extension 4-H or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

Services: A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at St. Anthony Parish Hall in Lively Grove, IL on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 11:00am.
