The Relay for Life Washington County announced on Wednesday on Facebook that the upcoming Relay for Life Bark In The Park at Nashville Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
The decision was made due to the growing public health concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
“Event leadership and the American Cancer Society have made the decision to postpone and reschedule Relay For Life Bark in the Park Originally Scheduled for May 16th.
This event will be rescheduled. Please reach out to Stephanie Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office at 618-288-2320 with questions and more information.
Our top priority remains the health and safety of volunteers, staff, community members, and the cancer patients and their loved ones. The American Cancer Society is following CDC guidelines by postponing any gathering of 50 or more in the next 8 weeks. The committee felt that these events fell too close to the deadline and wanted to ensure the safety of our community members during this every changing time.
We will still have these events in 2020, so please stay tuned as we will be looking at dates once the threat subsides. We are grateful for the dedication of the community members that have and continue to support these events. Stay safe everyone!”
The date was scheduled for May 16.
