Washington County Resident Tests Positive For Coronavirus
A Washington County resident has tested positive for the coronavirus, the Washington County Health Department said Thursday afternoon.
According to a press release, “Washington County Health Department was notified this morning that a resident of Washington County has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual, a male in his 30s, is doing well and is at home quarantined and being cooperative. It is believed that this individual was exposed while traveling to Chicago.
“The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois has risen dramatically over the past week and will continue to rise as more exposures occur. The spread of this virus can be reduced by following public health guidance on social distancing, frequent hand washing, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and staying home when you are ill.
“COVID-19 shares many symptoms with other common respiratory diseases. If you have fever, cough, or shortness of breath, call your health care provider for further assistance. You may be asked to stay home and treat your symptoms if you can. If you have symptoms and live with others, please isolate yourself to a separate space to reduce the chances of spread and have others watch for symptoms.
“The public is asked to follow and share trusted sources of information on COVID-19. The spread of incorrect information during disease outbreaks can lead people to take actions which may not be beneficial to their own health or the health of others. Follow the CDC and IDPH websites for trusted and reliable information. Public health officials will not be releasing more specific details about this individual due to privacy issues. “
Earlier this morning, the county issued a disaster statement, putting in place the emergency protocol in response to the pandemic.

Update on 4-6-20: The resident has recovered, according to the WCHD, and is now off isolation orders.

lack of information is one of the things that are going to hinder all of this i live in washington county of course in the country and rarely leave my home anyway but still knowing what town this is would be something that i would think that common sense would tell ya needs to be shared hell its not like its a std or a murder or something of that nature this is something that appears to be concearning the world so ya the lack of information seems to me like a blatant slap to the face from not only our government but also from our county, city, and press. we all have family and friends everywhere around here and even good thoughts and prayers are reassuring.
