Washington County Hospital Longterm Care Unit Reports Positive COVID Resident

The Washington County Hospital stated Sunday that a positive COVID-19, or coronavirus, case has been identified in the Nursing Care Center long-term care unit.

The hospital said in a release said “While extensive precautions have been taken over the last many weeks to best protect the residents of the unit, one resident has been identified,” with the virus on Saturday, April 18. The hospital also said the health department has been notified.

To best limit the exposure, the hospital said “all unit employees and residents will be tested.” The first phase has been conducted. The resident has been isolated and those who have been in contact will be notified to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The news comes the same day as the Washington County Health Department reports a seventh case in the county.

More news will be posted as this story develops.
