The Washington County Health Department said it has received notice of an additional lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in a county resident, the department said Friday.
According to administrator Elizabeth Lehde, the department is still investigating how the female in her 20s contracted the virus. The resident is at home, quarantined and is experiencing mild symptoms.
The health department is in communication with all active cases and working with individuals to identify any and all close contacts to help reduce the spread of this disease. If you know that
you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID and have not been contacted by the health department, call the department at 618-327-3644 for further guidance.

“Continue following the stay-at-home orders and practice social distancing,” Lehde said. ” If you must go out for essential business, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and limit time out. Continue washing your hands frequently. Avoid group gatherings and events. It is CRITICAL to adhere to isolation and quarantine orders to reduce the spread of this virus. This virus can be passed before symptoms start and from those who have no symptoms at all.”
