A 41-year-old Hoyleton man was killed in a tractor accident in Marion County on Wednesday, June 17, officials said.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon said on Facebook Thursday morning that Jason Quick was operating a tractor off Marshall Creek Road southeast of Patoka around noon when it overturned as he was trying to climb a steep embankment. Quick was pinned underneath the machine in a creek bed and had to be extricated by the Patoka Fire Protection District. He was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room by ground ambulance due to his “gravely critical condition.”
“As resuscitation efforts failed due to the nature of his injuries, he was pronounced deceased in the Emergency Department by the attending ER physician,” Cannon said.
Patoka Fire Chief Blake Hyde reportedly said the tractor was pulling a bush hog and Quick was apparently trying to make his way to a field to mow. Quick was originally from Patoka.
Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville is assisting the family with arrangements.
