Centralia Police Investigate Thursday Night Shooting Incident
A couple of people were hospitalized Thursday night and treated for gunshot wounds after an incident that occurred in Centralia, police said.
According to WJBD, two individuals were struck by gunfire at the intersection of Kerr and Pine streets “between a group of pedestrians and an occupied vehicle.”
When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old man from Swansea with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Later, a 28-year-old female from Centralia arrived at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson told the radio station that the female, who was pregnant, is currently in critical condition and the baby was delivered at the emergency room and is in stable condition. The baby was then transported to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment and observation.
The female gunshot victim has since been airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment. The first male victim was transported to a separate St. Louis Hospital where he received treatment for a single gunshot wound. He has since been released.
The incident reportedly occurred at 8:34 Thursday night.
