Pinckneyville Teen Killed In Perry County Motorcycle Crash

A 19-year-old man from Pinckneyville has died from injuries sustained in a car versus motorcycle accident in Perry County on Friday, September 18.

According to the Illinois State Police, Mattie M. Spears, 44, of Marion was driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Malibu at 8:16 p.m. on Illinois 13 westbound at Azalea Road in Pinckneyville and attempting to turn south onto the roadway. John P. Bouchard Jr. was traveling in a black 1989 Harley Davidson and attempting to pass a vehicle behind the Spears’ Malibu. Bouchard reportedly did not see that Spears was trying to turn and the motorcycle collided with the rear of the car.

Bouchard was ejected from the bike, and Spears continued off the roadway until the Malibu struck the side of a house.

Bouchard was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. Three of the occupants of the Malibu – Spears, a 12-year-old male and an 11-year-old female, all from Marion, – were taken to a regional hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) are continuing the investigation. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
