Covid Update: Washington County Health Department Reporting 19 Deaths

In their most recent press release, the Washington County Health Department reported 36 new lab-confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Washington County between December 22-December23. The age of those diagnosed range from 11 to 90. These additional cases bring Washington County’s total case count to 1,116, according to Washington County Health Department.

Unfortunately, the number of deaths has also increased. Washington County Health Department is reporting 19 deaths (15 active, 4 released) for the county.

In their press release, the health department also made the following statement,

“It has been brought to our attention that there is inconsistency in the reporting of deaths by IDPH. Unfortunately, deaths following a positive result using rapid testing are grouped together for the entire state as a “probable death” on the IDPH reporting dashboard. This causes confusion and inaccurate reporting for individual counties. The definition and process of notification of deaths is the same. Our department finds it important to report information completely. Sadly at this time, we must report that an additional 4 deaths have occurred in our county after testing positive using rapid tests. A male in his 60’s, female in her 90’s, male in his 80’s, and female in her 80’s were all on isolation for active COVID at the time of their passing.”

Currently there are 2 active hospitalizations due to Covid and 137 active cases of Covid in Washington County.

Do we protect each other during this Covid-19 pandemic or turn our backs on the very same people we hope that will be there for us and do nothing?

Let’s keep a good breathing distance away from each other and properly wear a mask in order not to spread this virus any further! We just might be carring and spreading this virus without any symtoms. Bacteria’s and virus’s are absolutely on money, door knobs and most surfaces that we constantly touch, so wash your hands often.

There are still so many unknowns about this virus and longtime term side effects from it and if that’s not enough to be concerned about, we now have a new version of the Covid-19 virus entering our country that is much more contagious and has shown signs of weakening the beneficial spike protein that is used in new vaccination against Covid-19.

When you see a sign requiring you to participate in a community activity that helps protect others and then you ignore that request, you broadcast a very loud and very obvious statement that you care about nothing but yourself. We are all in this together, so I’m just asking everybody to stretch their sights in regards to community efforts for the welfare for everyone.
