Mrs. Elsie Campbell of Nashville, IL, departed this life at the Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville, IL on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 12:58 PM. She had attained the age of 99 years, 1 month and 28 days.
Mrs. Campbell was born on October 25, 1921 in Pilot Knob Township, Washington County, IL the daughter of Richard and Lilly (nee Schaeffer) Porter. She was united in marriage to Raymond Campbell on December 12, 1939 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2000.
Elsie worked for the Southern Farms Egg Plant in Germantown, IL and Gutzler’s Bakery in Nashville, IL for many years. She was a charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Ladies Bowling League. Elsie enjoyed going for walks and loved quilting.
Left to mourn her passing is her brother, Allen Porter and wife Jean of Highland, IL; two sisters, Lillian Bathon of Nashville, IL and Eileen Sronce and husband Loren of Normal, IL; two sisters-in-law, and Phylis Porter of Oakdale, IL and Doris Porter of Pinckneyville, IL; Elsie’s caregiver for many years, Lester Campbell of Nashville, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Athel Porter and wife Selma, Hiram Porter and Lester Porter; sister, Annabelle Williams and husband Willard; and brother-in-law, Arnold Bathon.
Due to Covid 19 health concerns, a private funeral service will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Monday, December 28, 2020. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery in Rice, IL.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the Concord Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
