Shirley J. Meyer
Mrs. Shirley Meyer of Venedy, IL, peacefully departed this life surrounded by her daughters and favorite son-in-law at the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville, IL on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:03 P.M. She had attained the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 23 days.
Shirley was born in North Hollywood, CA on June 13, 1935 the daughter of William and Lavina (nee Alfred) Oaks. She was united in marriage to Elwood Dyck and he preceded her in death. She then married Delbert Meyer in Las Vegas, NV on January 16, 1970 and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2018.
Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker and worked at ToysRUs out in California until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and traveling. She also enjoyed going on cruises to exotic places all over the world. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, doing embroidery, and cooking and baking. Shirley also volunteered at the Addieville Wurstmart for many years. Most of all she loved her family.
Left to mourn her passing are her four children, Elwood Dyck Jr. and wife Janey of Paso Robles, CA, Mark Dyck and wife Barbara of Los Banos, CA, Denise Dyck of Venedy, and Terrie McMillian and husband Jim of Venedy; seven grandchildren, Emilie Tonn and husband Travis of Fresno, CA, Lisa Dugan and husband Gareth of Atlanta, GA, Mark Godbey and Josh Godbey of Venedy, Kimberly Mason of Colfax, IL, James Delbert McMillian and Allen W. McMillian of Venedy; seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Emma, Emersyn, Michael, Harley, Hayley, and Max; two half-brothers, Leo and Lynn Jones both of Rialto, CA; two sisters-in-law, Maria Oaks of Sequim, WA and Lorraine Meyer of Lincoln, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Elwood William “Billy” Dyck III and a brother, William Jennings Oaks.
In accordance with the wishes of Shirley and her family, cremation will be performed, and a private interment service will be held at a later date at the Zion Cemetery in Addieville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friendship Manor Health Care Center-300 Wing and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
