Region 4 Now The Only Region In Tier 2
Today IDPH announced that Regions 8 and 9 have moved from Tier 2 Mitigations to Tier 1 Mitigations. This leaves Region 4 as the only region in Illinois to remain under Tier 2 Mitigations. Region 4 moved from Tier 3 Mitigations into Tier 2 Mitigations on Friday, January 22.
In order to move into Tier 2, a Region must
-Have a test positivity rate between 6.5% and 8% for three consecutive days AND
-Have ICU bed availability of at least 20% for three consecutive days AND
-Have no sustained increase in COVID hospitalizations.
Right now, IDPH’s website is showing Region 4 with a 7-day rolling average of 7.7%. As of 1/23, according to the IDPH’s website, Region 4 is on the right track in terms of ICU bed availability, but has not yet met the 7-day rolling average requirement. Region 4’s COVID hospitalizations are stable and on track for moving forward.
These numbers are all dated 1/23 on the website. As the week continues, Region 4 may meet more of the requirements necessary to move into Tier 1.
