SSM Health in Illinois Invites Community to Observe Moment of Silence

Effort will honor health care and essential workers, first responders and others impacted by COVID-19

Mt. Vernon, IL (April 27, 2021) – As we continue working together to bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic in our community and across our nation, SSM Health invites local government agencies, our business community, friends and neighbors to join in a moment of silence at 10 am on Monday, May 10.

This observance during National Hospital and Health Care Week will honor the many individuals who have risen as heroes throughout the pandemic – as well as those who have died or lost loved ones to this disease.

“Frontline caregivers, first responders and essential workers in every corner of our community put aside their personal concerns over the past year, rising as true heroes – and businesses and communities stepped up in incredible ways to support them,” said Laura S. Kaiser, FACHE, President and CEO of SSM Health. “We simply want to take a moment to lift all those impacted by the pandemic in our thoughts and prayers, joining together in gratitude and remembrance.”

“If we’ve learned one thing through this pandemic it’s that we are stronger together,” Kaiser added. “This moment of silence is something simple we can each do to demonstrate strength and unity throughout our community as we begin the healing process together.”
