Shirley M. (Fischer) Buhrmester, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at her residence.
Shirley had worked as a haul truck driver at Freeman United Coal Company. She had also worked as custodian at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville, IL. Shirley and her husband Don had owned a lawn mowing business. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. Shirley loved her flowers, bingo and traveling.
She was born April 27, 1936 in Perry County, IL, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Smith) Fischer.
She married Herman ìPeteî Rowell and he preceded her in death. She then married Donald Buhrmester on February 15, 1986 at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville, IL and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, son – Charles Rowell and wife Christina of Dowell, daughter – Denise McWhorter of Du Quoin, step daughter – Donna Buhrmester of Nashville, IL, three grandchildren – Joshua McWhorter of Du Quoin, Angela Tatham and husband Matt of Keystone Heights, FL, and Katherine Deines and husband Brandon of Callahan, FL, five great grandchildren – Alexander McWhorter, Reagan Tatham, Claire Deines, Jo Anna Tatham, and Julianne Deines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, two infant sons – Stephen Alan Rowell and Eddie Troy Rowell, three brothers – William Dale Smith, Fred Dean Smith and Harry Fischer and her dog – Sadie.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. April Turner and Terry McWhorter officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville, IL.
