Montgomery Jane Celebrates Ribbon Cutting

Although the doors opened in January of this year, on Tuesday, Rachel Hagene officially christened her new business with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Montgomery Jane the store was inspired by another Montgomery Jane, Hagene’s young daughter. Hagene explained Montgomery has always loved taggies and jean jackets, which then inspired her to begin her business. While she worked out of her home for two years, her business quickly blossomed into something that required a little more space. Since she began, she has made baby quilts, customized baby clothing, taggies, jean jackets, blankets, bibs, and burp clothes, all of which can be purchased at her store.

“It’s been really good,” she said. “It shows there is a market for this stuff.”

Quilts can be purchased for $110, taggies anywhere from $24 to $32, jean jackets are $45, bibs are $10, and burp cloths are $15. Although the store hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00-4:30, she encourages customers to schedule an appointment prior to visiting. Her business is located in the Derrick building  on East St. Louis St. in Nashville. She is accompanied by her mother, Sara Meinert, aunt Connie Frerker, and her cousin Grace Ruehl.
