Pearl Povolish


Mrs. Pearl Povolish of Ashley, IL, departed this life in the SSM Health/Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 7:36 P.M. She had attained the age of 95 years, 1 month, and 23 days.

Pearl was born in Washington County, IL on May 19, 1927, the daughter of John and Victoria (nee Karolczak) Liszewski. She was united in marriage to Joseph Najewski in Posen, IL in 1945 and he preceded her in death in June of 1980. She then married Robert Povolsih in Radom, IL in 1982 and he preceded her in death in April of 1988. 

Pearl was a loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed being with family, gardening, tending to her flowers, playing cards, and fishing. She always had a smile on her face that would light up your heart. She was a faithful member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL, and a long-time member of the Altar Sodality at St. Ann and St. Michael in Radom. 

Left to mourn her passing, but to rejoice in the memories she shared with all who knew her, are her two children, Thomas Najewski and wife Wanda of Ashley, and Mary Waggoner and husband Ron of Tamaroa, IL; a stepdaughter, Vicki Povolsih Hille of Beaucoup, IL; eight grandchildren, Sandy (Troy) McCreary of Ormond Beach, FL, Scott Horst of Hoyleton, IL, James Najewski of Troy, TX, Sarah (Mike) Davis of New Minden, IL, Don (Dani) Najewski of Troy, TX, Cris (Jim) Myers of Mt. Vernon, IL, Robert Najewski of Nason, IL, and Vicki (fiancé Evan Trigg ) Sharkey of Ashley; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, James Najewski, and her five siblings, Agnes, Sophie, Casimir, Anne, and Lillian.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville on Saturday July 16, 2022, at 10 A.M. with Fr. Andy Knopik officiating. Interment will be in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Radom.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 8 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
