Linda Ruth Schuette, 84 of New Minden, passed away at 3:39 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 at her residence.  She was born onMay 20, 1938 in St. Charles, Illinois, the daughter of Homer and Oneta Allen Tucker.  She married Don Schuette on February 7, 1978  in New Minden.  

Linda was raised in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School.  She was baptized at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her husband Don Schuette of New Minden.  A son Tim (Donna) Hicks of Radom, a daughter Debbie Cook of Centralia.  Step daughter Renee (Tracey) Quillen of Scottsburg, IN.  4 grandchildren; Kelley Taylor, Gary Edmisson, Jr., T.J. (Regina) Hicks and Melissa (Chris) Morton.  6 great grandchildren; Tucker and Taytum Taylor, Maddie and Mason Hicks, Bailey and Laney Morton.  A sister Nona Hill of Walnut Hill.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joe Tucker, sister Lois Bundy,2 brother-in-laws; James Bundy and Jon Boswell. 2 son-in-laws; Bobbie Cook and Gary Edmisson, Sr.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden.  Linda was a beauty shop operator, ran a grocery store in Woodlawn and was later a secretary at Miss Elaines in Centralia and worked with her husband on the family farm where she especially loved feeding the calves. She and Don loved going on short trips visiting her cousins and friends.  They loved vacationing in Florida and most of all spending time with her children, step daughter and husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  When the great grandchildren stayed with them, they enjoyed taking them to the Drury Inn hotel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden with Rev.Timothy Mueller officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Research.  Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
