Missouri man struck by semi, killed in interstate accident

A 42-year-old Fenton, MO, man was killed in an interstate accident after he was struck by a semi-truck on Friday afternoon.

Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger posted on Monday that Clinton M. Jones was traveling an eastbound vehicle on Interstate 64 when he parked his vehicle on the north shoulder at the 44 mile marker. Jones reportedly stepped outside of his vehicle and into the path of an eastbound semi truck.

Jones was pronounced dead at 3:44 p.m. by Washington County Deputy Coroner Jamie Blazier. The identity of the semi truck driver is not known at this time.

Eastbound 64 was closed for nearly 2 hours to investigate the accident. The case continues to be investigated by the Washington County Coroner’s office, the Illinois State Police and the St. Charles County, MO, Sheriff’s Office.
