FAYE CRUSE

Mrs. Faye D. Cruse of Granite City, IL departed this life at her residence on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 7:35 P.M. following a sudden illness. She had attained the age of 99 years and 6 days.

Faye was born in Okawville, IL on September 8, 1924, the daughter of Paul and Emma (nee Schwettmann) Bridges. She was a 1942 graduate of Okawville High School. Faye was united in marriage to Wilbur Cruse on November 21, 1942 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2013.

Mrs. Cruse was a faithful member of the Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City. She worked as a salesclerk at the Libson Dress Shop in Granite City for 30 years. She enjoyed playing cards and was still playing with her card club every few weeks. Faye and Wilbur enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Starduster Square Dancers for over 30 years. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in the care and maintenance of her beautiful garden.

Left to mourn her passing is a son, Robert Cruse and wife Deborah of Okawville; a sister Lois Rabenort of Okawville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Sanders and husband Darby, Rachel Hummel and husband Kyle, Rebecca Cruse, Sarah Cahill and husband Alex, and Matthew Connell and wife Jennifer; six great grandchildren, Tallulah Sanders, twins Estella and Luna Sanders, James Hummel, Bridget Hummel, and Violet Cruse; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bridges.

Funeral services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Okawville.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Tuesday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
