NCHS girls golf places first at Carbondale

The Nashville High School girls golf team took first place out of four teams at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale with a score of 183 on Monday, September 11. Marion had a score of 221, Carbondale had a score of 223 and West Frankfort had a score of 236. Shelby Thorson was the top scorer for the Hornettes with a score of 44. Others in the top six for the Hornettes were Brynn Stiegman and Zoe Lopez each with a score of 46, Karlie Stein with a score of 47, Lily Emge with a score of 57 and Arabella Alfeldt with a score of 59.
The Hornettes took fourth place out of nine teams at the Terrier two-woman scramble at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale with a score of 167 on Wednesday, September 13. The Hornettes had the second best score out of the Illinois teams at the event. Jackson High School in Missouri took first place with a score of 141, Notre Dame Regional High School of Cape Girardeau, Missouri took second place with a score of 146 and Harrisburg took third place with a score of 157. Stiegman and Thorson had a score of 82 and Lopez and Stein had a score of 85.
The Hornettes took fourth place out of 13 teams with a score of 264 at the Belleville East Par 3 Tournament at Yorktown Golf Course in Shiloh, par 54, on Thursday, September 14. O’Fallon had a score of 252. Triad had a score of 256. Belleville East had a score of 260. Lopez was the top scorer for the Hornettes with a score of 65. Others in the top six for the Hornettes were Stein and Thorson each with a score of 66, Stiegman with a score of 67, Alfeldt with a score of 69 and Emge with a score of 76.
