James Zgonina

James F. Jimî Zgonina, 82, of Du Bois, passed away at 7:00 A.M., Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the GreenTree in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Jim had worked for General Tire in maintenance. He also worked at Purina in Nashville, IL. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL. Jim was a member of the NRA. He was an avid woodworker, fisherman and hunter. He played bluegrass music playing the banjo and guitar. He was also a taxidermist. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was born on the family farm in Radom, IL on January 28, 1941, the son of Ted and Frances (Wojtowicz) Zgonina.
He married Betty L. Janowski on August 17, 1961 in Radom, IL and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2016.
He is survived by one son – Matthew J. Zgonina and significant other Cindy of Ashley, one daughter – Angela Zgonina and Artie McDonald of Richview, three grandchildren – Molly Zgonina and friend Chris of Nashville, IL, Cody Clemens and Christy of Beaucoup, and Aaron Dunn and Theressa of Dubuque, IA, four great grandchildren – Merytt Zgonina, Lylah Dunn, Kaleb Dunn, and Eliza Dunn, and one brother – Tim Zgonina of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother – Daniel Zgonina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery in Radom, IL.
Friends may make memorials to St. Michael Cemetery or Alzheimerís Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
