    Kaskaskia College is pleased to host its 18th annual “Enduring Freedom” Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 13 on KC’s main campus.  Kaskaskia College is proud to honor the service of those men and women who have given their time and energy in the service of our country.

      The morning will feature a free biscuits and gravy breakfast in the College’s Student Center from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. for veterans and their guests.

      A special program will be held in the Jane Knight Auditorium starting at 9:45 a.m. that is open to the students and the public.  This year’s guest speaker will be retired Bond County Sheriff Jeff Brown of Greenville.  In addition to his law enforcement career, Brown served 13 years as a special agent in the United States Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations.  In that role he conducted counter intelligence investigations, conducted protective service operations for U.S. and foreign dignitaries and served as a security advisor to the US Air Force Chief of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Pentagon.  He also coordinated arrivals and departures for the President, Vice President and First Lady with the US Secret Service.  Brown is also a retired member of the Illinois Army National Guard.  Brown retired after 23 years as Bond County Sheriff and currently serves as the Director of Public Safety for Kaskaskia College.

      The morning will also feature the presentation of colors by the Beckemeyer American Legion Post #1227, and the performance of the military service songs by the KC Blues under the direction of Lynda Marshall, Assistant Professor of Choral Music.
