Nashville Hometown Christmas

The second annual Nashville Hometown Christmas featured a day of holiday activities beginning with an Ugly Sweater 5K and ending with a tree lighting service and a visit from Santa Claus. The downtown area also included craft and food vendors, children's activities and many other fun-filled festivities.

Tooth Wizard At AGS

Ashley Grade School students in kindergarten through fourth grade were visited by the Tooth Wizard on Thursday, November 14, to learn about the proper ways to take care of their teeth. Sponsored by Delta Dental, the  Land of Smiles program took place in the school gymnasium, where the Tooth Wizard talked about the importance of choosing healthy foods and drinks, visiting the dentist and brushing multiple  times a day. The program also included drop-ins from enemy PlaqueMan (pictured in first photo above), who discouraged healthy oral habit

Tarzan

The NCHS musical "Tarzan" opens November 8 and continues on November 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. Here are some photos from tech week.

Halloween Parade

The Nashville Lions Club, The Nashville Community Center and the Nashville Ecumenical Youth Steering Committee held its annual Halloween Parade and Costume Judging on Sunday, October 27. Superheroes, Disney characters, witches, ghosts and others were all in attendance.

Nashville Primary School Costume Parade

The Nashville Primary School held its annual Halloween Parade on Friday, October 25, in the school gymnasium. Students walked along the perimeters for the parade dressed in their costumes.

Washington County Championship Barbecue

Washington County Championship Barbecue Cookoff was held on Sunday, October 20, in the Hoyleton Village Park.

SIJHSAA State Baseball Tournament 2019

The Junior Hornets won second place in the Class M state finals in Pinckneyville, losing 3-2 over Millstadt in extra innings, and the Raiders took home third in Class S honors in Coulterville, topping the Crab Orchard Trojans 6-1. Congrats to both teams on a successful season! 

Homecoming Week 2019

Homecoming week was held from Oct. 7 to 11. Welcome to the Jungle was the theme, and the game was Friday against Pinckneyville. It was a chilly day for the game and parade but students, spectators and sports fans came out in droves to support the Hornets to victory, 47-7.

2019 Okawville Wheat Festival Parade

It was a hot one for the 2019 Okawville Wheat Festival Parade, as superheroes, villains, marching bands, floats and tractors strolled along the main streets of this village. It was the 71st annual festival this year.

4-H STEM Club

A 4-H STEM Club Camp was held on July 29 to August 2 at Ashley Public Library. On the fourth day, campers created battery-powered junk robots with perpetual motion that would scribble colorful designs on paper.

Free Swim

The Nashville Chamber of Commerce sponsored a free swim event at the Memorial Park Pool on July 19.

2019 Washington County Fair

The 76th annual Washington County Fair was held July 9-13 at the fairgrounds in Nashville. The fair included several grandstand events, carnival activities, livestock auction and much more.

Miss Washington County Fair 2019

The return of the Miss Washington County Fair after a 33-year hiatus. Jaylyn Bower of Nashville was crowned fair queen.

Heritage Days 2019

Heritage House Museum held its annual Heritage Days on June 8 and 9. The events include live entertainment, children's games, a soda tasting and much more.

On May 5, the Washington County Sportsmen's Club held its 46th annual fishing derby at Nashville Memorial Park.

Easter Egg Hunts from Nashville, Hoyleton and New Minden.

Oakdale Eggstravaganza 2019-3

The family fun event returned to Oakdale on April 13. Hundreds descend on the Washington County village to experience several spring activities, include a 20-acre Easter egg hunt, tour through the Egg Factory, games, inflatables and more.

Blue and White Night

Nashville Middle School hosted its annual Blue and White Night on Saturday, March 23. The family friendly event included a variety of activities for children, including inflatables, laser tag, carnival games and much more.
